Terradillos De Los Templarios to El Burgo Ranero

Day 15 on the Camino Frances and our aim today is walking from Terradillos de los Templarios to El Burgo Ranero. It’s another 5am start and from the start my legs feel like lead today.

Day 15 Overview

  • Distance – 31km
  • From – Terradillos de los Templarios
  • To – El Burgo Ranero
  • Min/Max Elevation – 801m/881m
  • Elevation gain – 221m
  • Steps – 46,000

After a great stay in Terradillos de los Templarios the Knight Templar Jacques de Molay bids us farewell as we set off on our way. Some of the Knights Templar symbols and images are all over this stage of the Spanish Camino and its really interesting to witness the history.

Todays walk on the Camino Frances was another 32km day and we have done 4 in a row now. I think we’ll need a shorter day soon to rest up.

Pilgrim Burny set off at quite a fast pace today and myself and Pilgrim Bob just couldn’t keep up so we let him walk ahead and caught up at each stop for coffee etc.

There was a lot of road walking on this camino stage and was a tad boring. We’re all feeling tired but with only 28 days to finish our Camino de Santiago we have to get to El Burgo Ranero today.

For about the 10th time so far we passed a roadside grave of a pilgrim who has died on the Camino. Really sad stuff

We spent the day walking on mainly flat terrain through San Nicholas del real Camino, Sahagun and Bercianos del Real Camino in the afternoon. After 4 hard walking days we need a rest as we’re all a tad tired and grumpy.

We did manage to get a good picture whilst stopping for a break in a field of poppies.

We arrived in El Burgo Ranero and we’re the tiredest we’ve been on this whole journey with feet that kill like mad, mine especially.

As we made our way into the village we spotted the church steeple with 4 storks nests on it. We have seen lots of these and its one bird we just don’t see in the UK anymore.

El Burgo Ranero

As we felt so tired we decided to give ourselves a treat and booked into a small hotel and got a room with 3 beds. I’ll sleep well tonight that’s for sure.

I am a long distance walking nerd and fell in love with the Camino de Santiago in 2016 when I walked the French Way for the first time. I've been blogging since then and my aim is to help all Pilgrims with hiking and walking advice.
