The Camino de Santiago stretches from France to the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, Spain and passes through many different cities and towns.
For those who have not yet made the journey on foot, Albergues are available to pilgrims to stay in and offer meals, showers, a place to rest your weary feet, and much more.
Some are amazing and some a bit basic.
I’ve walked this stretch of the Camino Frances before and have always stopped in this little village and my favourite Pension has a swimming pool, and is called Albergue Casa Barbadelo.
Here’s some helpful advice for selecting the best Albergues in Barbadelo so you can make the most of your time on The Camino Trail and this fantastic small Spanish village.

Barbadelo is a really small village that is located in a rural area of northern Spain, and as such, it doesn’t really have a lot of things to do as the village is centred around village life the church and Pilgrims passing through walking the Camino Frances.
The Church of Santiago or Iglesias de Santiago, is a significant religious landmark in the village of Barbadelo, located in the province of Lugo, Galicia, Spain.
This Romanesque church, dedicated to Saint James (Santiago in Spanish), holds historical and cultural importance, particularly due to its location along the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James).

THINGS TO DO IN BARBADELO

Explore the Village: Barbadelo is a small village on the Camino de Santiago but it is worth taking some time to explore the local streets and stone houses as well as the ancient church in the centre of the village.
Wine tasting: Its always good to take some time to taste the local wine and watch the world go by.
People watching: Sometimes its just great to watch Pilgrims as they walk through the village. You will nearly always see someone you have talked to before.

Can I eat at Albergue Casa barbadelo
The good news is there is a really good bar and restaurant in the Barbadelo Albergue and the food is top class.
We spent our day around the pool after a long walk on the Camino with a few glasses of white wine and then booked a table for the evening for our dinner with the pilgrim friends we had been chatting too around the pool.

Summary
If you are walking this section of the Camino Frances, Casa Barbadelo is an excellent place to stay and one of my favourite Albergues.
If you are starting in Sarria its also a good stop after a short walk enabling a Pilgrim to drink in all the Camino has to offer.
The Albergue swimming pool is fantastic and this accommodation has everything a Pilgrim needs for a great stay on The Camino de Santiago.
