Larrasoaña is a small village located directly on the Camino Frances in the region of Navarre and a great place to stop after a 25km walk from Roncesvalles.
For centuries Larrasoaña was a hospital and stopping point for Pilgrims on the Camino to Santiago but little remains of the Monastery and pilgrim hospitals today.
Don’t worry, there are still Pilgrim albergues in Larrasoaña waiting to take care of you on route to Santiago de Compostela.
Larrasoaña
Larrasoaña is a very small medieval village and serves as a stage stop over on the Camino Frances. It has good Pilgrim facilities but not a lot else.
I found its a great place to stop and while away your thoughts so far and reflect on the journey to date.
Talking to other Pilgrims is one of the good things about this location as there isn’t a lot else to do, especially over a cold beer.

The medieval bridge as you approach Larrasoaña is called the Bridge of Bandits. In centuries past local bandits would rob Pilgrims of their worldly goods as they crossed the bridge and would be dressed as Pilgrims as well.
We sat on the bridge, peeled oranges and took in the view before proceeding into the village.

There are only a few bar restaurants in Espinal and all offer food, beers with a good atmosphere.
What to do in Larrasoaña
Larrasoaña is a small village so has limited options for anything to do apart from walking around the village and visiting the church in the centre of the village.

Conclusie
Larrasoaña is a great village for a stop over on the Camino Frances but has limited things to do.
If you are looking for a quiet reflective place to stay this could be the ideal place for you.
