I was looking forward to the Pilgrim statue on the edge of the city and then walking down the tree lined park where one of the famous scenes from &#8216;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Way-Emilio-Estevez\/dp\/B0062VL4QA?keywords=the+way&amp;qid=1701883952&amp;sr=8-6&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=followtheye00-20&amp;linkId=cbefbae230f5537bf967c3f5276c7eb2&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Der Weg<\/a><\/strong>&#8216; was filmed.\u00a0<\/p><p>The &#8216;scene&#8217; from the movie was the day after Martin Sheen had his backpack stolen and was being walked to the outskirts of town by the father of the boy who stole the backpack.\u00a0<\/p><p>We all remember it right ?<\/p><p>It didn&#8217;t disappoint and with the early morning sun was a magnificent memory. Gorgeous ! For a couple of euros you can buy lunch and the sardines are a great source of protein.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: var(--ast-global-color-4);\"><span style=\"color: var(--ast-global-color-3); font-style: inherit;\">Out of the 28 days walking from Saint Jean Pied du Port to Sant<\/span>iago<span style=\"color: var(--ast-global-color-3); font-style: inherit;\">\u00a0de Compostela we had this lunch for about 20 days. It&#8217;s cheap, lovely and great to eat by the side of the road in a shady spot.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: var(--ast-global-color-4);\"><span style=\"color: var(--ast-global-color-3); Pilgrim Bob was the chef for the night.<\/p><p>We had read stories before our Camino of the availability of kitchen facilities and the opportunity to make dinner for a large group of people and something Pilgrim Bob really wanted to do.<\/p><p>Unfortunately there were no other Pilgrims to make dinner for as they were all in groups but we just got on with it. We got supplies from a small grocery store opposite the Albergue.<\/p><p>H<span style=\"background-color: var(--ast-global-color-4);\"><span style=\"color: var(--ast-global-color-3); font-style: inherit;\">e made us a great pasta dish washed down with a local red wine and all for a few euros.
